Dartmouth is a four-piece rock band based out of San Mateo, California. The band consists of; drummer Dominic "Magic Man" Ferrario, bassist Patrick "Fire Hole" bowler, vocalist Tommy "The Man" Norman, and RETARD AndrĂ© " jesus" Paxton. They played their first show together on October 28th, 2006, and have been playing more and more often since that day. The band is named after a street in Belmont, California on which the middle school the two founding band members, Bowler and Paxton, met and began playing together is located, the San Carlos Charter Learning Center. The four started out playing at The Vibe in Foster City, where they played three shows, and then moved on to bigger, better places. In early 2007, the band pooled funds and recorded their first album, GARETT IS THE MAN WITH THE PLAN AND HE IS HOTT AND CAN DO A BACKFLIP ON A WAKEBOARD!!!!!!!!!!!“All I Have”, which was released on January 15th, 2007. The ten-track CD was written, recorded, mixed, mastered, duplicated, and distributed entirely by the band, and featured artwork by Alex Paxton, AndrĂ©’s older brother. Later that month, Ferrario and Paxton negotiated with Carlmont High School authorities and started Live Night, an event on campus where local bands play to raise money for the school. The first Live Night took place on January 26th, 2007, and proved to be a great success for the band and the Carlmont community. A few months later, on March 24th, 2007, the band played at Carlmont’s Mitchell Louie Cancer Benefit, and helped raise money for a community teen recently diagnosed with cancer. The following week, on March 30th, 2007, Dartmouth won first place in the San Carlos Youth Center Annual Battle of the Bands, and received $250. Soon after, Paxton collaborated with Terrance Braggs from the Helio store in downtown Palo Alto, and together they organized an event at the store where local bands would play to give teenagers a place to go, bands a place to play, and Helio an opportunity to promote their business. The first event took place on May 5th, 2007, and even though Bowler had to sit out this show for personal reasons, the band temporarily pulled in Ryan Alvarado the morning before the show but still filled the store full of curious listeners and dedicated fans. As the band continues to expand their fan base and introduce their truly original sound, they are in the process of raising money to record their music professionally, taking their passion to the next level.
